Union County High School – Morristown’s Hayden Langkabel led all scorers with 16 points as the Yellow Jackets beat Union County 66-46. Langkabel’s points came on 3 field goals, 2 three pointers and 4 of 6 free throws during the game. Union County was led by Mason Miller’s 15 points and Cameron Donovan added 10. The Jackets had a slow start to their Tuesday night away game. Conversely the Patriots started 7-0, but by the end of quarter 1, the Jackets were in the middle of what would become a 19-5 run by halftime. All night the Jackets were cracking a stingy Patriot defense with excellent ball movement and unselfish play. Each of the four quarters, Morristown had at least five scorers, which led to 3 in double figures and two more with 7 and 8. While the Patriot’s we’re stingy, the Jacket’s defense was suffocating leading to many scoring opportunities on Patriot turnovers. Union County fell to 14-7 overall while Morristown improved their record to 19-1. Morristown will host Eastern Hancock for Senior Night on Friday Feb. 9 at 7:30pm.
