Marietta–A capacity crowd was witness to a dramatic hardwood battle between two great teams of high character and sportsmanship on Friday night. Class 1A ranked #4 Morristown defeated #9 Hauser 69-63 in Sectional 60 semifinal game 2. Logan Laster led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points on 7 field goals and 5 of 9 free throws. His teammate Hayden Langkabel scored 18 points on 2 field goals, 2 threes, and 8 of 10 free throws. The Jet’s Mason Sherman led all scorers with 24 points on 5 field goals, 4 threes and 2 of 3 from the line. Sherman scored 17 points of the Jet’s 29 fourth quarter points to test the Jacket’s resolve. The third quarter ended in a 12-12 tie, while the first half belonged to the Jacket’s 38-22. Coach McClelland thought that his team got out to a great start and followed the game plan well. Logan Laster had a great game. He drove the ball in on 6’10 Senior Hauser center, Alex Gross, trying to draw fouls and make plays at the rim. Trevon Carlton’s defense frustrated Gross tonight and helped hold him to 7 points in the game. Coach said Carlton engaged and battled Gross well. Coach McClelland was very happy with Kyle Crim’s and Logan Theobald’s minutes and he thought Eli Streeval really shot the ball well. Coach is proud of the kids and how great they played but wants everyone to stay focused on moving forward. The Jackets will play for the Sectional Championship Saturday night, 7:30 start, versus Oldenburg Academy. Let’s fill up the stands again Yellow Jacket fans. Go Jackets!
